Take Action Now to Support AB 2379
Your Assemblymember will be voting on legislation which addresses plastic microfiber pollution. Take 2 minutes to call them and urge their support!
Plastic microfiber pollution dwarfs all other categories of plastic pollution. These tiny plastic fibers shed from clothing made from synthetic fabric when washed, and because washing machines and wastewater treatment plants aren't designed to filter out microfibers these plastic fibers are released directly into waterways and are ending up in our seafood and drinking water.
Well funded industry lobbyists, including the American Chemistry Council and the Plastics Industry Association, are opposing this legislation and working to convince your Assemblymember to vote against this bill.
AB 2379 by Assemblymember Bloom is an important first step in approaching microfiber pollution. The bill requires clothing made predominately from plastic to be labeled to warn consumers of plastic microfiber shedding during regular washing. Call your Assemblymember and urge them to vote YES!
